How we Work
How We Work
Initial appointment (up to 90 minutes):
The initial consultation includes a comprehensive health history with targeted questions that will begin to untangle the root causes of your symptoms by taking a deep dive into your complete health history. It can help us discover if there are any potential triggers or factors that could have led to or contributed to your existing health concerns. We will talk about your symptoms, goals, and concerns, as well as any preliminary interventions, lifestyle changes, supplements, and treatment recommendations that can jumpstart your healing journey before your follow-up appointment. We will also order a comprehensive advanced blood testing to be completed before your follow-up appointment.

Comprehensive advanced blood testing
The second appointment within 3 to 4 weeks from the initial appointment (60 minutes)
Based on the information you provided during our initial encounter, we will conduct an extensive, in-depth review of your laboratory results through the lens of both conventional medicine and functional medicine. Our belief is that “One shoe size does not fit all” and “Normal is not optimal.” We will develop a plan of action based on your readiness and ability, with consideration of your lifestyle, finances, and life circumstances.

Follow-up appointments for ongoing and uninterrupted care (up to 60 minutes)
You are not abandoned or forgotten as a patient. You are the one who is most important in this relationship. Your treatment and follow-up care are outlined at the end of every visit. Progress is monitored closely and concerns or questions about your treatment plan are answered timely. During your follow-up appointments and in between visits, you will be able to ask questions so you can thoroughly understand how to transform your health with the tools and recommendations outlined in your treatment plan. On average, you can expect to have a follow up appointment every 2 to 3 months for the first 6 months of treatment and thereafter once every 4 months for uninterrupted medical care, depending on the complexity of your condition. Although continuous medical care is recommended, for our new patients we strongly advise committing to at least 6 months to see improvement and changes in their health. After the initial 6 months of treatment, we reassess and define new goals. Achieving optimal health is a journey, not a sprint.

For your appointments, please note that we are an out-of-network provider. This decision allows us more flexibility in providing thorough care tailored to your needs, which often requires more time and varied treatment options than what insurance constraints allow.
If you have a PPO plan, your medical insurance may reimburse a significant portion of your visit costs. Upon request, we can provide you with a superbill for you to submit to your medical insurance for reimbursement. With an HMO plan, your visits may not be covered, but your medical insurance might cover some or all of your laboratory (lab) work expenses. If you want to use any insurance benefits, you will need to check with your insurance company to see if they will reimburse any expenses or cover labs.
Medical insurance policies now often require meeting deductibles before covering any lab costs, often requiring full payment until deductibles are met. To help manage expenses, we have negotiated lower lab prices to ease these costs for our patients and offer substantial savings on lab work costs for self-pay patients.
To understand what your medical insurance covers, contact them and inquire about your coverage for out-of-network medical providers and lab work costs. Depending on their reimbursement rates, our discounted lab program may provide you with significant savings.
We make the best treatment decisions for you, which might not always align with your insurance’s coverage. But we will work with you and do the best we can for you in this respect.
Yes, we accept FSA (Flexible Spending Account) and HSA (Health Savings Account) as payment for visits and supplements purchased.
