About Roxana Cocos, APRN, MSN, FNP-C

Roxana graduated with honors (cum laude) from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelors in Neuroscience as well as from the Texas Woman’s University with a Bachelors in Nursing. In 2011, she completed her education with a Master of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, a proud Fellow of the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine, and a member of the Academy of Preventive and Innovative Medicine.

As a Family Nurse Practitioner, she has worked in Family Practice, in Primary Care, Urgent Care, Endocrinology, and Functional Medicine giving her a well-rounded foundation of experience in treating patients. She has completed with honors the two-year postgraduate fellowship in Integrative Health and Medicine through the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine. Roxana learned early on in her nursing career how broken the medical system can be, driven by profit rather than by patients’ health outcomes. She believes that we do not have a “healthcare system” but rather a “sick care system” perpetuated by medical insurance companies and drug manufacturers.

Roxana was disappointed by the conventional medicine approaches when she started practicing as a newly graduated nurse practitioner in an Endocrinology practice. As a clinician, she quickly learned how fractionated medical care can be, often dictated by drug makers and medical insurance companies. She learned what not to become and quickly understood that she needed to further advance her education to be able to help her patients.

The “pill for every ill” method and a revolving door of drug reps with free drug samples was not working, leaving her patients sicker and more frustrated with their medical care. Roxana moved on to a family practice where she performed well in a highly paced and stressful setting caring for underserved communities. Further along her career path, she worked for years in a fast-paced urgent care setting with a high volume of patients.

Once she learned the truth, she could not unlearn it or ignore it. Furthermore, she pursued advanced education to learn and understand evidence-based therapies (the “real science” as she calls it) to hormonal imbalances and deficiencies, which are the key to graceful aging and longevity.
